Get to Know Me
I strive to exemplify integrative scholarship—a philosophical and practical approach I learned from my mentor, Professor Lesley le Grange—where teaching-learning, research, and community engagement are deeply entangled and mutually constitutive.
Through my writing, leadership, presentations, and mentoring, I advance a vision of contemporary and future universities as regenerative spaces for justice, where experimenting with alternative forms of knowledge/research creation are welcomed, all aspects of higher education are relationally understood and arranged, and all stakeholders are committed to enact their ethical ability to respond to the pressing needs of the times we find ourselves in.
My Accomplishments
I am a nationally and internationally recognised scholar in Curriculum Studies with specific interests in Higher Education, Research Methodology, Posthumanism / New Feminist Materialism/s, and Social and Ecological Justice (Human Rights Education).
I hold a C2 rating from the National Research Foundation (and am currently under review for my third cycle) and have an h-index of 20 with over 60 accredited journal articles and book chapters. I have (co-)edited 4 academic books and served as guest editor of 4 journals’ special editions.
My academic contributions interrogate and reimagine higher education curriculum, pedagogy, and leadership in contexts shaped by systemic inequities and ecological complexity. I serve as a convenor of one of the National Research Foundation’s Scientific Rating Panels for Education, a role that affirms my standing as a leading figure in South African academic scholarship.
